Constructive Awaiting For

A Shining Future

On the happy and blessed occasion of the birth anniversary of the Promised Savior, Imam Mahdi (ajtf), Islamic Research and Information Center (IRIC) is holding a video festival entitled “Constructive Awaiting for a Shining Future”.

Talented Muslim artists and producers are invited to produce short documentaries and video clips for non-Muslim audience focusing on the vision of Islam regarding the future of the world, The Promised Savior, and the role of human beings in reaching such a promised era, in comparison to other schools of thought.

Festival Categories

  • Short Documentaries (between 120 to 180 seconds)
  • Video Clips (at most 120 seconds)
    Including animations, motion graphics, infographics, videopoetries, etc.

Proposed Topics

  • Does history show that mankind is moving towards a better life or the situation is getting worse?
  • Are modern human beings stepping towards a path of perfection, resolution of crises and achieving a bright future?
  • What type of future does the human knowledge predict?
  • What are the futuristic viewpoints about the crises that man is facing today?
  • What are the viewpoints of the experts on environment, climate change, economy, psychology, health, food, energy, technology and military situation with regards to resolution of the crises and future problems of the world?
  • What kind of future do we expect? From the viewpoint of the Holy Quran and Hadiths, how does the future look like?
  • What are the differences between the typical optimistic and pessimistic viewpoints about future as compared with the Islamic vision?
  • From the Islamic viewpoint, what are the responsibilities of human beings for reaching the promised future?
  • What is the role of active awaiting in resolution of the global problems and realization of the promised future?
  • What are the characteristics of the lifestyle of people who believe in the promised future?
  • What are the true and false perceptions of the concept of “awaiting for the promised future”?

Prizes

Although your efforts on the important event of the birth anniversary of Imam Mahdi will be, Inshaallah, rewarded by His Holiness Imam of the Time (a.s.), IRIC, as a token of appreciation, will provide the following:

    • The 1st prize:     $500
    • The 2nd prize:   $300
    • The 3rd prize:    $150

Submission

Please upload your videos by March 13, 2022 (extended) through one of the following services:

  • One Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox, and WeTransfer.

Make sure to give us full access to download the files. Then send the link through the registration form.

Evaluation

Qualified videos will be posted on our Instagram page. The ranking of the videos shall be made on:

1. Evaluation made by viewers (30 percent), based on the number of likes, shares, and comments

2. Evaluation made by the IRIC expert group (50 percent).
The evaluation is made by the following criteria:

a) Innovation and originality

b) Quality of the content

c) Technique

d) Screenplay/content structure (idea, story, and characterization)

e) Attractiveness and ability to transfer the concepts

f) Technical and artistic quality (lighting, filming, editing, sound and visual effects)

g) Universality and transnationality

h) Relevance to the festival topics

General Requirements

  • Each person is requested to submit only one video.
  • Videos, already premiered in other platforms and festivals, will not be selected for the competition section.
  • Videos should only be in English (Non-English parts of video clips must have English subtitles.)
  • Videos should be horizontal (landscape) and the resolution must be at least 1280 x 720.
  • Acceptable file formats are: .mp4 / .mov – H264 codec, under 2 GB.
  • Using Islamic audio effects in the background is allowed; however, other types of music in not acceptable.
  • The religious and ethical code of practice such as proper dressing should be observed.
  • Using any type of symbols and pictures with a commercial or political purpose is not allowed.
  • The videos should take into consideration and respect the dignity of nations, denominations, and policies of different nationalities.
  • The videos that do not follow the standards from the technical and quality viewpoints will not be taken into consideration and will be removed from the competition.

Guidelines

  • Please note the authenticity of the subject, good structure, proper research of the idea, and a specific message that is accompanied by the actual facts of a documentary film.
  • A good start and concluding part are among effective characteristics in producing a valuable short film.
  • Please avoid copying other people’s ideas and patterns, and using repetitive structures.

Intellectual Property Rights

  • The producer(s) confirms that he/she has followed the intellectual property rights, rules and regulations in his/her production.
  • The producer agrees to the virtual presentation of his/her product, and expresses his/her agreement so that IRIC uses this product in its non-profit applications.
  • The producer of this product is responsible for responding to any claim by personal or legal entities with regard to the intellectual property rights.
